Project Overview
This project involved creating a series of three print ads addressing the societal issue of driving under the influence of cannabis. I designed each ad to educate, resonate, and encourage responsible choices through bold visuals, strategic messaging, and targeted design elements. The campaign's goal was to raise awareness of the risks of driving high without sounding overly preachy or discouraging cannabis use altogether. By tailoring the tone and visuals to the target audience, the campaign aimed to balance educating and connecting with readers.
My Role & Contributions
As the designer, I conceptualized and executed the layout, typography, and visual elements for all three ads. I ensured that each ad carried its unique message while maintaining consistency across the campaign. This included creating impactful visuals, crafting attention-grabbing headlines, and employing subtle design techniques to reinforce the messaging.
Key Highlights
Ad 1: Do Anything But Drive
A bold and engaging design that encourages the audience to choose activities other than driving while high. The semi-transparent text blends seamlessly with imagery, while strategic colour choices emphasize key points like "Don't drive high."
Ad 2: Driving High Infographic
A clean and striking infographic featuring a cannabis leaf as a focal point. This design uses contrast and emphasis to guide viewers through statistics, educating them on the effects of driving under the influence.

Ad #1: Do Anything But Drive

Ad #2: Driving High Infographic
Ad 3: Designated Driver
A visually impactful ad using bright colours and blurred text to simulate the disorientation of being high. Relatable language reinforces the importance of choosing a designated driver.

Reflection
This project challenged me to think critically about how to address a sensitive societal issue in a way that resonated with the audience. Crafting ads that balanced education with relatability required careful attention to tone, language, and design. I learned how to use persuasive elements like colour, typography, and layout to draw attention and leave a lasting impression. The process deepened my understanding of how design can communicate serious messages effectively while remaining engaging and approachable.
